Job Description and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer (Return and Reintegration), and the direct supervision of the National Project Officer (Reintegration and Economic Inclusion), the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the smooth implementation of IOM reintegration assistance activities in the designated area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead field implementation and monitoring activities of Community-Based Reintegration (CBR) projects.
  • Provide technical support to individual and CBR implementing partners.
  • Support the delivery of individual reintegration assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Conduct assessments of local market dynamics to inform reintegration activities.
  • Support the implementation and coordination of EDF-related activities through the reintegration hub.
  • Participate in remote pre-departure counselling sessions.
  • Coordinate with sending missions for the provision of reintegration assistance.
  • Refer migrants to relevant specialized services and conduct regular case follow-up and monitoring.
  • Prepare and undertake field missions related to reintegration activities.
  • Support administrative coordination of implementation in the operational area.
  • Coordinate with government and non-government counterparts at zonal and woreda levels.
  • Identify shortfalls in delivery and bring them to the attention of the supervisor and sending missions.
  • Participate in activities related to the Community-Based Planning (CBP) methodology.
  • Support with the organization and implementation of internal and external capacity development activities.
  • Support with the preparation of reports on reintegration activities and contribute to the development of new project proposals.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education
  • High school diploma with seven years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
  • Experience in working closely with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with government counterparts, local non-governmental partners, international organizations and private sector entities.
  • Experience in return and reintegration, or experience in other relevant fields such as livelihood or protection programming.
  • Previous experience with UN and International Agencies, international or local NGOs preferred.
Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Ability to supervise and work effectively with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
  • Good understanding of social protection and/or migration issues.

Languages

Fluency in English and Amharic is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of other Ethiopia languages, particularly Afaan Oromo and/or Tigrigna is desirable.
