Job Summary

We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Assistant Manager (AGM) to support overall hotel operations and help establish strong systems, standards, and team performance. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional with experience in large, reputable hotel chains who is ready to take on a strategic leadership position in a growing hotel.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day hotel operations across all departments (Rooms, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Front Office, Maintenance)
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high service standards and guest satisfaction
  • Implement and maintain operational policies, procedures, and quality control systems
  • Monitor financial performance, budgets, cost control, and revenue optimization
  • Lead, coach, and supervise departmental heads to drive accountability and performance
  • Ensure compliance with Ugandan regulatory requirements, health & safety standards, and internal policies
  • Handle guest concerns and escalations professionally and efficiently
  • Support recruitment, staff training, and performance management in collaboration with HR
  • Drive operational readiness, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in hotel operations, with at least 2-3 years in a senior supervisory or management role
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in recognized hotel chains (e.g., Serena, Protea, Sheraton,Hilton, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage multi-departmental operations in a hotel environment
  • Solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and operational reporting
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and guest service orientation
  • High level of professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail
