About the Job
The Center Advisor - Crop Production will be responsible for providing technical assistance to the National Agricultural Research Institute of Rwanda (NARO) in the development of a National Crop Improvement Program. The advisor will work closely with the NARO team to identify and prioritize crop improvement research and development activities, and will provide technical support to farmers and extension agents in the implementation of these activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to NARO in the development of a National Crop Improvement Program
- Identify and prioritize crop improvement research and development activities
- Provide technical support to farmers and extension agents in the implementation of crop improvement activities
- Collaborate with NARO staff to develop and implement a crop improvement strategy
- Conduct field visits to monitor crop improvement activities and provide technical support to farmers and extension agents
- Analyze data and provide recommendations to NARO on crop improvement activities
- Collaborate with other stakeholders, including farmers, extension agents, and private sector partners, to promote crop improvement activities
Requirements
- Master's degree in agriculture, crop science, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in crop improvement, agricultural research, or a related field
- Strong technical knowledge of crop improvement and agricultural research
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda
