Job Advert Summary:
To develop Mining Engineering graduates through structured on-the-job training, coaching, and practical exposure to quarry and mining operations within a cement manufacturing environment. The Graduate Trainee – Mining Engineering will support safe and efficient limestone extraction, quarry planning, drilling and blasting activities, material quality control, equipment utilisation, and compliance with mining, safety, and environmental requirements at Colleen Bawn Plant.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, or a related discipline.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support daily quarry and mining operations, including overburden removal, drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and limestone supply to the crushing plant.
- Assist in preparing short-term quarry plans and production schedules to ensure a consistent supply of the required quantity and quality of limestone.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret quarry production data, equipment performance, fuel usage, material movement, and contractor performance.
- Assist in monitoring limestone quality and coordinating with the Quality and Production teams to maintain the required raw material specifications.
- Participate in blast planning, blast monitoring, fragmentation assessment, and post-blast performance reviews under appropriate supervision.
- Support quarry surveying, bench development, stockpile management, haul-road maintenance, and rehabilitation activities.
- Participate in mining-related troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity and reducing operating costs.
- Assist in monitoring mining contractors and ensuring compliance with agreed production, safety, and environmental standards.
- Support equipment utilisation and availability reviews in collaboration with the Engineering and Maintenance teams.
- Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly quarry production reports, performance dashboards, and technical presentations.
- Participate in risk assessments, safety inspections, incident investigations, and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Support environmental management activities, including dust control, water management, rehabilitation, waste management, and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Observe and comply with all health, safety, environmental, and mining regulatory requirements applicable to quarry operations.
