Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• 2–4 years' experience in a Fruit & Veg or Fresh Produce environment.
• 1–2 years' experience managing a retail department and leading teams.
• Experience coaching, developing, and managing employee performance.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen.
• Excellent merchandising, stock management, and planning skills.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
• A customer first mindset with the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing Fruit & Veg team.
• Driving departmental sales, profitability, and gross margin performance.
• Managing stock availability, ordering, stock rotation (FIFO), and shrinkage to maximise profitability.
• Ensuring the department is fully merchandised, stocked, and ready for trade each day.
• Monitoring product quality, freshness, and presentation to exceed customer expectations.
• Executing promotional plans and merchandising standards in line with business requirements.
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, housekeeping, and health & safety compliance.
• Managing departmental administration, including scheduling, waste management, reporting, and SAP transactions.
• Analysing sales and stock reports to identify opportunities to improve turnover and reduce waste.
• Creating a customer-focused culture that delivers outstanding service and operational excellence.
