Shoprite Technology is seeking a seasoned People Business Partner to lead strategic people initiatives, driving the alignment of HR strategies with business goals at a senior level. This role requires expertise in business partnering, workforce planning, employee engagement, and change management, leveraging data-driven insights to design and implement sustainable people solutions. What you'll do:
- Role Description: Employee-Centric Delivery Partner with portfolio leaders to implement People plans aligned to operational priorities, workforce requirements and employee experience outcomes.
- Coordinate the delivery of People initiatives across the employee lifecycle, including resourcing, onboarding, engagement, performance, learning and talent activities.
- Manage escalated employee and manager queries within the portfolio and provide practical guidance on People policies, processes and frameworks.
- Collaborate with People Solutions, People Services and local People Delivery teams to ensure fit-for-purpose support for the portfolio.
- Analyse people data and workforce trends to identify issues and recommend practical actions that support portfolio performance and employee engagement.
- Build trusted relationships with portfolio stakeholders to support collaboration, engagement and effective People delivery.
- Coach managers on the application of People practices and support the adoption of an employee-centric culture.
- Support career management, succession planning and capability development activities for priority roles within the portfolio.
- Promote employee wellness, inclusion and communication initiatives that support a positive workplace experience.
- Contribute to People budget planning by identifying portfolio resourcing, learning and operational People requirements.
- Monitor People-related costs and highlight risks or variances for review with relevant stakeholders.
- Use People metrics and business intelligence to support portfolio workforce planning, productivity and service delivery decisions.
- Apply relevant labour relations frameworks, employment legislation and People governance requirements within the portfolio.
- Support compliance checks, audits and risk mitigation activities by ensuring accurate application of People policies and procedures.
- Escalate emerging People risks and partner with stakeholders to support timely resolution and corrective action.
- Support the implementation of change initiatives and new People solutions across the portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to improve People processes, service delivery and employee experience.
- Contribute to discussions on technology, data and capability requirements that support future-fit portfolio delivery.
What you bring:
- Qualifications and experience: Degree in Human Resources or equivalent +3 years in Talent Management/HR Business Partnering or equivalent role, driving HR delivery of frameworks, policies, procedures, and guidelines and managing HR service delivery.
- Demonstrable knowledge of HR practices within the FMCG, retail / ecommerce sector, applying the principles of optimum capability and capacity planning.
- Exposure to statutory requirements, with the ability to apply relevant laws, regulations, HR policies, procedures and best practices within a portfolio context and escalate areas of risk where required.
- A sound understanding of diversity and inclusion concepts and processes and the link between employment equity and good HR practices.
- A proven track record of strong generalist HR delivery providing input to HR strategy and executing the tactical aspects of HR delivery within a decentralised HR structure reporting to business, delivering against centralised HR strategies and day-to-day operational requirements, managing an HR delivery team.
- Preferred: Experience within the FMCG, retail sector, or similar.
