Job Details

Department: Operations
Reports Directly To: Transport Supervisor
Location: Onsite at HPW Fresh and Dry Ltd, Adeiso, E/R

Purpose

You shall be responsible for the transporting of goods from one place to another using heavy trailer trucks.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • You shall operate trucks with load capacity ranging from 1t to 38t gross weight per vehicle.
  • While performing an assigned task, you shall assume ownership of the company asset at your disposal and take necessary precautions to keep the asset and yourself safe.
  • Inspect truck and trailer before and after use and report any defects found.
  • Deliver goods to the airport, seaport etc. with heavy trucks
  • Keep records of deliveries and pickups made by the company vehicles you are charged with.
  • Drive long distances on company errands.
  • Check fuel, oil, Ad-blue, hydraulic oil levels, air pressure etc.
  • Keep regulatory truck and driver documentation (Road Worthy, insurance and driving license) valid.
  • Follow all traffic laws and road safety regulations.
  • Plan routes with the interest of the truck and cargo being hauled paramount at the time of decision making.
  • Take appropriate rest when tired
  • Report to the dispatcher on any incidents encountered on the road
  • Report immediately any serious mechanical faults to your supervisor.

Additional Tasks

  • You shall be called upon during emergency situations where driving services may be required.

Required Skills or Experience

Education Requirement

  • Minimum of JSS / JHS (BECE Certificate) and must possess Republic of Ghana Driver’s License Class ‘EF’ or ‘F’
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in a similar role.
