Role Purpose

The warehouse officer will be responsible for proper warehouse management, receiving food commodities and updating warehouse documents. Additionally, the position also mobilizes commodities from main warehouse to each intervention woredas mini warehouse; communicate transporter ahead of time to ensure timely commodity dispatch to each distribution centers.

Scope of Role

Reports to: Health Nutrition Coordinator

Dimensions: Save the Children works in - regions in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately - staff and current expenditure of approximately $90+ million each year

Key Areas of Accountability

• Proper warehouse management, including physical condition, cleanliness, security, space availability, equipment availability, and laborers.
• Receiving and dispatching food based on waybills and approved DAM, practicing proper commodity handling.
• Updating warehouse documents such as ledger and stack cards, and ensuring they are reconciled with source documents.
• Proper handling and reporting of damaged commodities and losses within 72 hours.
• Communicating with transporters and sharing approved dispatch and distribution plans.
• Mobilizing communities for commodity offloading at mini-stores and controlling the process.
• Receiving and checking commodities at mini-stores, updating ledger and stack cards, and ensuring proper documentation.
• Dispatching commodities to FOOD distributors during distribution dates.
• Ensuring mini-stores are clean, free from non-food items, and infestation, and practicing proper stacking and spacing.
• Ensuring food stays more than two days at the mini-store.
• Implementing monthly reporting systems and documenting field activities.
• Performing other related tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• BSc/College Diploma in Nursing and/or other health-related fields.
• At least Four years working experience in the field, out of which two years in NGO experience.
• Experienced in nutrition and health program implementation.
• Good written and spoken ability of the local language.
• Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and cope with stressful situations.
• Interest in and ability to work in team.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in remote and potentially insecure environments.
