Senior BI Analyst

The Senior BI Analyst partners closely with Data Product Owners, Data Analysts, and Data Engineering teams to ensure insights are accurate, relevant, and aligned to agreed business metrics.<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><span style="color:#18181b"><span><b>Minimum Qualification:</b></span></span></p><br /><ul><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span>Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience</span></span></li></ul><br /><p style="color:!important"><span style="color:#18181b"><span><b>Minimum Experience:</b></span></span></p><br /><ul><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span>6&#43; years’ experience in a BI Developer, BI Analyst, or Visualisation Developer role</span></span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span>Proven experience delivering production BI dashboards and reports for business users</span></span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span>Hands-on experience with modern BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Pyramid, Business Objects, Tableau)</span></span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span>Exposure to enterprise data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, SAP BW)</span></span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span>Strong SQL skills and experience querying large datasets</span></span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span> Experience working with data warehouses and curated analytical datasets</span></span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span> Good understanding of data visualisation principles and UX best practices</span></span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span> Understanding of Retail is advantageous.</span></span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b"><span>  Familiarity with agile delivery frameworks</span></span></li></ul><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p><span style="color:#18181b"><b>Key Responsibilities</b></span></p><p><span style="color:#18181b"><u>BI Analysis &amp; Requirements</u></span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#18181b">Work with Data Product Owners to understand analytical needs, decision-making processes, and key business questions.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Translate business requirements into clear BI specifications, including KPIs, measures, filters, and report layouts.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Define, document, and maintain metric definitions and business logic to ensure consistency and shared understanding.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Validate requirements against available data and challenge assumptions where necessary.</span></li></ul><br /><p><span style="color:#18181b"><u>BI &amp; Visualisation Development</u></span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#18181b">Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and self-service BI assets using approved BI platforms.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Peer review other BI Analyst developments for alignment to standards and fit for purpose.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Collaborate on, and apply data visualisation best practices to ensure insights are easy to interpret, intuitive, and visually effective.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Build interactive features such as drill-downs, filtering, and comparisons to support exploratory analysis.</span></li></ul><br /><p><span style="color:#18181b"><u>Optimise BI solutions for performance, usability, and scalability.</u></span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#18181b">Ensure that BI solutions meet data Quality &amp; Insight requirements.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Validate data accuracy and investigate discrepancies or anomalies.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Interpret trends and patterns in data and proactively surface insights to stakeholders.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Support business users in understanding and correctly using BI outputs.</span></li></ul><br /><p><span style="color:#18181b"><u>Collaboration &amp; Delivery</u></span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#18181b">Collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers to align BI solutions with data models and platform standards, contributing to the formulation of data model requirements.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Participate in agile delivery ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Support user acceptance testing and adoption of BI solutions.</span></li></ul><br /><p><span style="color:#18181b"><u>Governance &amp; Standards</u></span></p><ul><li><span style="color:#18181b">Adhere to BI standards, visual design guidelines, and data governance policies.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Ensure appropriate data access, security, and compliance in all BI solutions.</span></li><li><span style="color:#18181b">Promote consistent, trusted reporting and reduce duplicate or conflicting metrics.</span></li></ul><br /><p><span style="color:#18181b"><b>Competencies</b></span></p><ul><li><b>Business Intelligence &amp; Visualisation:</b> Advanced capability in developing intuitive, interactive and visually effective dashboards, reports and self-service BI solutions.</li><li><b>Data &amp; SQL Proficiency:</b> Strong SQL and data analysis capability, with a sound understanding of data warehouses, analytical datasets and enterprise data platforms.</li><li><b>Business &amp; Data Acumen:</b> Ability to understand business processes, data relationships and the context in which data is used to support decision-making.</li><li><b>Stakeholder Engagement:</b> Effectively engages with Data Product Owners, business users and technical teams to understand requirements, communicate insights and manage expectations.</li><li><b>Data Quality &amp; Governance:</b> Strong focus on data accuracy, consistency and trusted reporting, with adherence to data governance, security and access standards.</li><li><b>Solution Design &amp; Performance:</b> Designs BI solutions that are scalable, user-friendly, fit for purpose and optimised for performance.</li><li><b>Collaboration &amp;
